Chris Stadler called the meeting to order after the shoot.
Chris Stadler: Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Dan: Brief summary of finances. Finances will be turned over to Sally shortly.
Sally: Our current mailing address is invalid. A new mailing address will be forthcoming shortly.
Chris Stadler: AZGFD will be holding their annual Outdoor Expo on March 27-28 at Ben Avery. Chris Stadler will be available to man a booth if the Board agrees our presence is a worthwhile venture. Discussion followed, including the need for additional volunteers.
Chris Stadler: Motion to have a booth at the Outdoor Expo and welcome all volunteers. Second Dan. Motion carried.
Chris Stadler: Should we have an intro shoot at the Outdoor Expo? Discussions followed. If we can raise 10 volunteers, we can hold an intro shoot. Dan will be able to provide the guns and the ASCA would use some of the ammo in our inventory. Chris Stadler can solicit volunteers to assist with this activity.
Dan: Motion to solicit volunteers and hold intro shoot if enough help can be obtained. Second Chris Parsons. Motion carried.
Chris Stadler: The "Getting Started" page on the website has generated a fair number of inquiries. Discussions were held about the best way to make use of this interest. Today, Chris Stadler, Chris Parsons and Buck Dendy had a "Getting Started" inquirer, Brian, accompany them on the main event as an observer, ask questions, see the shoot in action. As a potential shooter, this gave Brian the chance to address any concerns about the shoots and taking bringing his son into the sport. Brian then shot the Clay Target 50 with Chris Stadler. This seemed to work well, and Brian was thankful for the opportunity to get eased into the sport, as opposed to just bringing his son out and getting a cold start.
Chris Stadler: Motion to continue the Getting Started program, and, if the new potential shooter is willing to join the NSCA via the CLM program; ASCA provide the ammo for the first 50-bird event and also pay the club for the 50-bird event on the new shooter's behalf. This would allow the new shooter to get their feet wet in a comfortable fashion, join the NSCA, get on our e-mail list, get the quarterly issues of Sporting Clays magazine, and get their first registered targets - all at no cost. This would be subject to the availability of the ammo stock and the continuation of the CLM program by the NSCA. Second Dan. Motion carried.
Chris Stadler: Our ammo stock consists of 50 flats of ammo to be used over the course of the year. We should probably set a schedule or some guidelines on the ammo usage and reservations for particular events. Then the remaining events could use a flat or 2, depending on availability, etc.
Dan: Motion to reserve 20 flats for the State Championship, 5 for the Ben Avery Invitational, and 5 for the Croder de Lompio Classic. Second Sally. Motion Carried.
All: General discussions followed regarding the host hotel for the Ben Avery shoots, as it looks like our agreement with the current provider will not bear fruit. We will look to other hotels in the area. Chris Stadler will make contact with the Hampton Inn in Anthem.
All: General discussions relating to the State Championship were held, regarding everything from golf carts, to food vendors, to trappers, to sponsors. Specific discussions will be held in the future with regard to this event.
