Q: What are your favorite things about
shooting Sporting Clays?
A: My favorite about sporting clays is the
different target presentations and the simplicity of squadding and
classifications.
Q: What is your favorite shooting venue?
A: My favorite shooting venue is Ben Avery
because of the improvements to the facility and the challenging targets that
keep everybody in the mix.
Q: What has been your favorite shoot/event?
A: I have not shot enough major events yet to
decide. The state championship is towards the top.
Q: What is your favorite target presentation?
A: My favorite target presentation is the
rabbit by far. Just being able to throw a clay target on the ground and having
it not break a very good portion of the time is really cool.
Q: What is your least favorite target
presentation?
A: None. If you have one you have already
missed it.
Q: What do you feel is your greatest challenge in
Sporting?
A: My greatest challenge has been getting
over the mental hump. Coming close to winning or almost clearing a station has
plagued me in both skeet and sporting clays.
Q: What do you feel is your biggest
accomplishment with regards to Sporting Clays?
A: My biggest accomplishment is my B-class
state championship. My proudest accomplishment is finishing 2nd and 3rd at the
2009 and 2010 SCTP Team Nationals with my buddies Holden Huff and Tanner
Bissell.
Q: What, if any, are your Sporting Clays goals?
A: My sporting clays goals are to make an
All-American team and being able to be in the mix to win tournaments each time I
compete and just learn to relax and turn in a good score when the day is over.
Q: Do you shoot sub-gauge events?
A: Yes. 20 gauge is my favorite.
Q: What is the one "gizmo" you find
most useful when shooting?
A: A kinetic weight balancer for my Beretta.
Many people that have shot with me ask how it helps me. What it does is it
smoothes my swing and reduces the muzzle jump allowing quicker target
transition.
Q: What advice would you give to someone just
starting out?
A: My advice to anyone that is starting out
is to develop a good mental state of mind when shooting. In my experiences, my
mental game is what has either made me succeed of falter.
Q: Anything else we should know?
A: No.
Webmaster's commentary:
I've not had the pleasure to shoot with Perry, but I've seen him out there
few times, and spoken with him at the range on a couple of occasions. As
you can tell from his responses, he's very mature and has a good grasp of our
game. I wish him much luck and continued success.
I'm glad Perry took the time to submit his questionnaire. Help keep the Featured Shooter feature going by filling out the "Shooter
Questionnaire."
