We had a special treat for August, 2006.  The featured shooters were the Skillings family.

The Skillingss Family

Richard, Lisa and Matt Skillings are shown above.  I've had the good fortune to shoot with these folks a few times, and I have to say, they have the right attitude.  They are so busy having fun that it really makes you appreciate our sport and the people involved in it.  Each of their individual profile are below.

Lisa Skillings

Name: Lisa Skillings
Age: 28
Home: Oracle, AZ
Originally From: Tucson, AZ
Occupation: Professional Shopper Office Manager
Years Shooting: 2
Years Shooting SC: 2
NSCA Class D
Shotgun: Beretta 686 Sporting
Ammo: Whatever

Q:  What are  your favorite things about shooting Sporting Clays?
A:  I really enjoy traveling to different places and meeting new people.

Q:  What is your favorite shooting venue?
A:  I really do not have a favorite shooting venue.  I have taken something great from every place I have shot.

Q:  What has been your favorite shoot/event?
A:  I had a lot of fun at the Quail Unlimited shoot this year. We meet some great people, got to see great people we already knew, learned a new game, ate good food, and got to gamble!

Q:  What is your favorite target presentation?
A:  FAST AND HARD! The less time I have to see the target the better.

Q:  What is your least favorite target presentation?
A:  It use to be RABBITS but I find I really struggle with targets I have be patient with. The longer I see the bird the more I second guess myself.

Q:  What do you feel is your greatest challenge in Sporting?
A:  Being disciplined and keeping my concentration throughout the entire course.

Q:  What do you feel is your biggest accomplishment with regards to Sporting Clays?
A:  Becoming more disciplined and learning to change what is not working and make it work!  Also not to let shooting a bad score get me down.

Q:  What, if any, are your Sporting Clays goals?
A:  To always have fun shooting and get out of D class!  But really, I would love to be the 2006 Ladies Arizona State Champion!

Q:  Do you shoot sub-gauge events?
A:  Yes.  28 gauge is my favorite.

Q:  What is the one "gizmo" you find most useful when shooting?
A:  My new clays cart!

Q:  What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
A:  Always have fun shooting. Everybody has bad days, so if its your day to have one, have it and then let it go there's always next time. A good coach doesn't hurt either.
