Introduction to Sporting Clays Charity Events
From time to time, the ASCA will join forces with one of the
clubs to host
an Introduction to Sporting Clays Charity Event. These events are geared
towards the new shooter. Rental guns and ammunition are included in the
cost of the shoot, as is a safety briefing before anyone handles a gun.
The event takes place on a 5-station Sporting Clays course and consists of 10
targets from each station, for a total of 50 targets. Each station is
staffed with volunteers to provide some degree of instruction and helpful hints;
in addition, these volunteers keep an eye on the shooters to make sure everyone
is safe at all times and everyone has a good time. The targets are set to
provide a challenge, but not be too difficult; so everyone gets to break some
clays and have some fun.
These events are a great opportunity to spend some quality time
with family and friends; and try something new and exciting. With the
safety briefing and watchful volunteers, these events provide a safe setting to
try the sport, meet some of the "regulars" and get some helpful tips.
Perhaps the best thing about these events, aside from the
smiling faces, is that a share of the proceeds are donated to charity. So
in addition to the fun, you are helping out a great cause.
The first such event took place on December 10, 2005 at Ben
Avery Clay Target Center. The weather was beautiful and there were a
lot of smiling faces. In addition to the good time had by all, money was
raised for the Ronald
McDonald House Charities of Phoenix to put to good use. Information
about this event and pictures can be found by clicking the "2005 Intro
Shoot" button to the left.
