Any participant in any sport that involves the handling and use of any type of firearm, must place the highest priority on safety.  So we will cover that first.  Safety is everyone's responsibility, and can mean the difference between an enjoyable outing and a tragedy.

Below are some tips to help keep you, and those around you, safe:

ALWAYS treat every gun as if it was loaded.
ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
ALWAYS know your target and what is beyond.
ALWAYS know how to use the gun safely.
ALWAYS be sure the gun is safe to operate.
ALWAYS use only the correct ammunition for your gun.
ALWAYS wear eye and ear protection.
ALWAYS store guns so they are not accessible to unauthorized persons.
NEVER point a  gun at anything you are not willing to destroy.
NEVER use alcohol or other drugs before or while shooting.

Be aware that many shooting activities require additional safety precautions.

Shells handled safely

Actions open

Firearms pointed in a safe direction

Eye and ear protection is required

Target fragments can be dangerous

YWhy?

Because safety is  EVERYONE'S  responsibility!

Some general safety rules on the sporting clays field are as follows:

ALWAYS keep your action open when you are not in  the shooting stand.
ALWAYS keep your muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
ALWAYS handle ammunition with care.
ALWAYS obey any ammunitions restrictions for a particular course or station.
ALWAYS obey all posted rules and regulations at each club.
ALWAYS
obey all posted rules and regulations at each shooting stand.
NEVER
load your shotgun until you are in the shooting stand.
NEVER load more than two shells into your shotgun.
NEVER step out of the shooting stand with a loaded gun.
NEVER step out of the shooting stand with a closed action.

If you have a question or concern, do not hesitate to bring it to the attention of a shoot or range official.
